A special gift

Danger Tree sculpture dedication and a royal visit at Grenfell Campus

By Melanie Callahan

You are cordially invited to attend the dedication ceremony for the Danger Tree installation and the changing of the colours of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment on Wednesday, June 29, at Grenfell Campus.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment’s colonel-in-chief, will be in attendance at both events.

Anyone wishing to observe the dedication of the Danger Tree installation, which will take place in front of the Forest Centre, Grenfell Campus, should be in place on site no later than 11 a.m. Event volunteers will indicate appropriate vantage points. Those who wish to attend the changing of the colours, which will take place in the Grenfell Campus gymnasium, should be seated no later than 1 p.m. Space is limited for both events, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served, basis.

Public parking for the events will be available at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

The Danger Tree commemorative marker is a gift to Memorial University from the Forget-Me-Not Committee, with financial support from Memorial University’s WW100 Steering Committee for landscaping and installation of the pieces.

Many municipal, provincial, national and international dignitaries and veterans will be in attendance, as well as members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band.
