Search committees established for leadership roles

Dr. Lynne Phillips is nearing the end of her five-year term as dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dr. Phillips has opted not to pursue a second term and will complete her final year on June 30, 2017. She will take one year of administrative leave beginning on July 1, 2017.

Dr. Wilfred Zerbe has submitted his resignation as dean of the Faculty of Business Administration effective June 30, 2017. He will take one year of administrative leave beginning July 1, 2017, and will return to the unit as a faculty member on July 1, 2018.

“We are fortunate to have had Dr. Phillips and Dr. Zerbe as members of Memorial’s senior academic leadership team over the past several years and I thank them both for their dedicated service and strong leadership,” said Dr. Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic).

In accordance with the Procedures Governing the Appointment, Review, Promotion and Tenure of Academic Administrators, separate search committees have been established for the roles of dean, Faculty of Business Administration, and dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Search committee: Faculty of Business Administration

The following individuals have agreed to be members of the search committee for the position of dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

  • Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic) — chair
  • Renata Lang, director, Student Life, MUNSU (student representative)
  • Karl Smith, incoming member, Faculty of Business Administration Advisory Board, executive vice-president and chief financial officer, Fortis Inc.
