A Grand Tour: Eighteenth-Century Print Works at Memorial University Libraries, is the third in an ongoing series of catalogues profiling the holdings of the archives and special collections division of Memorial University Libraries.

Compiled and introduced by Patrick Warner, A Grand Tour highlights 47 of the 1,180 18th-century imprints held by Memorial University Libraries.

Each entry includes a photo of the physical artifact of the book in its original format, information about the author and the content of the work, as well as contextual literary information.

Broad focus

The catalogue is intended for those interested in book history and bibliography and the general reader.

Because the catalogue covers the range of developments of the 18th century and the emerging free press, the focus is broad and includes works of fiction, as well as books about religion, philosophy, science and medicine.

Mr. Warner is a special collections librarian with the Archives and Special Collections Division, Memorial University Libraries. He is also an award-winning writer of fiction and poetry.
